For nearly 70 years, the National Boys & Girls Clubs Youth of the Year program has honored and celebrated the nation’s most inspirational teens and their incredible stories. Stories of outstanding leadership, service, academic excellence and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle have made Youth of the Year America’s premier leadership and recognition program for teens. These amazing young people represent the voice and spirit of hope.
In Colorado, youth strive to represent one of their local Boys & Girls Clubs affiliated organizations. The process is a life changing experience. Boys & Girls Clubs youth are honored each year for their efforts in making their Clubs and communities more positive places for everyone. Representatives from the local Clubs participate in competitions across the state, then at the state level in Denver, then at the southwest regional competition in Texas, culminating at the national competition in Washington DC. This annual competition finishes with a visit to the White House and a meeting with the President – a tradition that dates back to the Truman administration.
