Youth Voice Wants Your Voice!!!!
Youth Voice is a chapter of Youth MOVE. We are youth run and driven to advocate for our peers and build the supports needed for the youth movement. We are community based so instead of focusing on any one or even multiple systems, we focus on the issues that our peers feel are important.
Our Mission is to find youth leaders or potential youth leaders, train them, educate them, and bring them back to their communities with our support. We send our members to trainings and conferences, as well as keeping them educated about the national youth movement. We even have our own trainings built for youth by youth on how to be: a subject matter expert, a policy maker, a community developer, and a peer provider.
We would be very interested in youth with experiences and/or knowledge in the following communities:
High school
Substance Abuse
Juvenile Justice
Culture Diversity
Homelessness
LGBQT
Youth Voice is just that - youth voices; we need more of them! Please, if you are youth leaders who care about your peers, fill out our Board application and ask them to fill out our Board Application.
Here is the Youth Voice Board Applications! Make sure to make your voice heard!!
Speak Now: Now Is A Good Time To Talk About How Teens Get Alcohol
Teen Alcohol Use
This summer we’re focusing on teen access to alcohol. The Healthy Kids Colorado Survey found 60% of Colorado high school students say it would be fairly easy for them to get alcohol if they wanted it. We’ve developed a new page about where teens get alcohol on the Speak Now site. This brings us to a new partnership the Speak Now campaign has formed with the Colorado Liquor and Tobacco Enforcement Division.
The Division has created an online public database of Minor in Possession (MIP) and compliance check results throughout Colorado. You can search by City, County, or ZIP code to find compliance check information for your area. As part of our media push, we’ll be distributing news releases this week to community media throughout the state regarding failed compliance checks in their counties. Businesses fail a check if they are found to be selling or serving alcohol to underage customers.
Summer Driving Safety
The Speak Now campaign is also continuing its partnership with the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles. DMV locations throughout the state distributed more than 70,000 informational bookmarks to parents of new teen drivers last year and received a new shipment this year. Additionally, these same materials will be sent to roughly 100 driving schools throughout the state this summer where they’ll also provide parents of soon-to-be drivers with information on the campaign.
