AN AWESOME YOUNG PERSON
RICKY
Interview by Madi Thompson - Youth Advisor
This month’s SPOTLIGHT youth is twelve year old Ricky. This aspiring future engineer and inventor will be attending Merrill Middle School this fall and be in the seventh grade.
WHAT DOES HE DO?
Like most kids his age Ricky enjoys playing video games. What makes him unique is that he has a passion for any community service he can get involved in including the work that he is doing with CO 9to25.
HOW DID HE GET INVOLVED WITH CO9T025?
Ricky first got interested in CO9to25 when his mom, a school teacher, learned of the opportunity from another co-worker. He immediately filled out the application and as they say, the rest is history. He is now spending hours working on the Social Media Action Team and loves it. He is learning a lot and feels that he is contributing to an amazing cause.
WHY DOES HE LIKE US?
His favorite part of CO9to25 is “the positive atmosphere of adults and youth working together to make an impact on the future of youth and adult partnerships within our state. And honestly, the food they serve at the meetings is great too!”
WHAT DOES HE WANT YOUTH TO KNOW?
If youth are reading this he felt it was important that they know “not to be afraid of experiencing new things. That community service is very important within your community and that CO 9to25 is an amazing place to help out.”
AND FOR THE ADULTS IN THE ROOM?
And if there are any adults reading this interview, Ricky stated “I think they need to know that there is a lot to learn from youth and just be patient with them. Youth want to work with you and learn what you can teach them.”
