Participants support diverse development projects while having a rich cultural immersion experience. Our Gap volunteers learn the skills needed to become a life-long catalyst for social change. |
The vision of the Gap Year or Semester program is to give participants a hands-on, real-life experience and unlock each students’ potential as a catalyst for social change. AMIGOS provides individually tailored internships with some of the most effective development agencies in Latin America. This experience provides a crucial opportunity for enriching one’s worldview before deciding on a career path.
AMIGOS Gap Participants
- Experience a profound cultural exchange by living with host families and working side by side with community members
- Are guided by AMIGOS’ first-rate training program and monitored by the AMIGOS Health and Safety System
- Grow valuable leadership skills through experiential learning
- Gain vital work experience through hands-on internships that teach how some of the most influential development agencies and government agencies reach out to communities in Latin America.
- Propose and implement community development projects, together with local community members
- Go on group excursions to experience even more of the culture of their Latin American host country
