Great Outdoor’s Colorado is hiring for one of their most exciting positions!
ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) uses a portion of state lottery proceeds to preserve, protect and enhance Colorado’s trails, parks, wildlife, open space, river corridors, playgrounds, and Youth Corps in all 64 counties. It awards competitive grants to local governments and land trusts and makes investments through Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). Created by voters in 1992, it is governed by a 17-member board that is appointed by the Governor and uses no tax dollars. Its current staff is 15 people.
In the years ahead, GOCO’s work will be guided by a new strategic plan with three primary goals:
• PROTECT more land and wildlife habitat, notably large scale landscapes
• CONNECT people to the outdoors and connect trails, parks and open spaces
• INSPIRE more Coloradans, children in particular, to get outside more and take care of our great outdoors.

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Youth Initiatives, the Youth Initiatives and Grant Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and administering GOCO’s Inspire Initiative, a new program aimed at inspiring youth to get off the couch and out the door from the backyard to the backcountry through investments in close to home parks and youth programming. The coordinator will also work on GOCO’s School Play Yard Initiative, a grant program that supports schools and local governments in transforming school yards into exciting places for unstructured play and outdoor learning. All school yards are designed by the students they’ll serve. The coordinator will also work on GOCO’s parks, trails and planning grant programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
• A degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in a closely related field.
• A demonstrated commitment to customer service and a positive and constructive view and practice of working with others. There will be a high percentage of time spent listening, understanding, and successfully working with a wide range of stakeholders from diverse locations throughout the state.
• A commitment to furthering GOCO’s mission and a demonstrated knowledge of and interest in

outdoor parks/recreation, youth programming and initiatives, and/or community development. Experience working with local governments, state agencies and non-profit organizations is desirable.
• A willingness and ability to travel and attend weekend and evening meetings, workshops, conferences, and events in Colorado. There will be travel that will require overnight stays.
• The ability to communicate clearly, succinctly and understandably through verbal and written communications. A comfort in making presentations to small and large groups.
• An exceptional level of attention to detail; the ability to handle several diverse tasks simultaneously, ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines, ability to carefully organize activities, tasks, and projects that require accuracy.
• The ability to navigate online file management and grants tracking systems such as Foundation Connect by Salesforce and SmartSearch by Square 9.
SKILLS
• A strong self- motivator as demonstrated by an ability to independently pursue objectives in an organized and efficient manner, and an ability to maintain the required level of work toward achieving goals without constant supervision.
• Work effectively and productively with other members of the team to achieve program and organization related goals.
• A high level of diplomacy, tact, optimism and a “can do” orientation.
SALARY & BENEFITS
• The salary range is $40,000 to $45,000, depending on qualifications and skills.
• This full time, exempt position will be eligible for a competitive benefits package.
