Meet Apoorva…

My name is Apoorva and I am a junior in High School.

What area of Colorado are you from?

I am from the Boulder area.

How long you have been with SPLAT?

I have been with SPLAT for two years and I love working with them!

Why did you join SPLAT?

I joined because I love how we teach important skills like building confidence and integrate it with the arts. I love seeing the planning process of the summit come alive and successful. I also love seeing how much it affects people in a positive way.

What is your favorite hobby outside of SPLAT?

I love to dance. I have been an Indian classical dancer for the past 9 years now and it is definitely my passion!

Why are Youth-adult partnerships important to you?

Youth-adult partnerships are important to me because they give me different perspectives on many ideas when we are creating the summit. It is also very interesting to see how we perceive different things in many ways.

How are you connecting and contributing?

I am contributing to the summit by helping with the design of the day and the curriculum. I enjoy building the summit into something that everyone will enjoy and hopefully be able to take something home with them.

How do you picture youth being more involved in the world?

I imagine youth being the voice in everything. They have the power and resources to get their voice heard. For example, they can start positive movements to address problems. Their involvement is the greatest thing in the world!

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

I would travel to several places: Istanbul (Turkey), Santorini (Greece), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and New Zealand.

If you were a pizza and eaten by any celebrity, who would it be?

Henry Cavill!

If you could ride any animal what would you choose?

I would choose a tiger because I love how they move and beauty.

If you could be any superhero, who would you be?

I would be Batman because I think he is super cool and I love his mysteriousness.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

I want to have the power of being in more than one place.

If you could be a historical painting, what would it be and why?

I would be the Mona Lisa because a lot of people say I have similar characteristics like calmness and classiness.

What is your favorite dessert?

Tiramasu! Just love it!!

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I want to be a Neurosurgeon. It is definitely an inspiration from Grey’s Anatomy! Love that show!!

What smell makes you think of home?

Well, I have a few smells. Humidity and gasoline remind me of India. The others smells are coffee and Indian food.

What is your favorite pun?

I’d tell you a chemistry joke but I know I wouldn’t get a reaction.
